This year’s Area Reformation service will bring us to celebrate 500 years of Lutheran hymnals. Luther says in the Preface to the 1524 hymnal of just 8 hymns: "I have myself, with some others, put together a few hymns, in order to bring into full play the blessed Gospel, which by God's grace has again risen: that we may boast, as Moses does in his song (Exodus 15) that Christ is become our praise and our song, and that, whether we sing or speak, we may not know anything save Christ our Savior, as St. Paul says (1 Corinthians 2).

So, we have another 500th anniversary of sorts tied to the Reformation. Like last year, the service will be at 3pm in the afternoon, on October 27th, at Lord of Life in Thornton. Before the service begins, we will start some scripted hymn singing as part of preservice music. Perhaps by as early as 2:40pm. =)

Note that light refreshments will be served after the service!
